On Thursday October 23rd, Flat Broke's very own Lorrie Hayes will be returning to sing the National Anthem at a special Breast Cancer Awareness hockey event featuring the Marquette Rangers.
Hayes is returning for the second year in a row to perform at the special awareness and fundraising game.
The game is slated for 7-pm at the Lakeview Arena in Marquette and is being featured as the "Paint the Place Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness night.
Hayes, a breast cancer survivor herself, says that she hopes that women will listen to the message of early detection and get a mammogram every year after they turn 40.
"I can tell you honestly. It's worth it to get a mammogram. I didn't have one done one year because I thought I was too busy, and "WHAM!"...the next time I got checked, they found cancer. Luckily, it was found early enough and I was able to beat it, but it's not worth it to skip it."
For more information about the game, log on to the Marquette Rangers' website at www.marquetterangers.com and find out how you can get involved and help fight breast cancer by taking in a great night of hockey.
