Organizers have set the date for the Annual BLUES FOR LIFE Cancer Benefit. The event will be held at the Lagniappe Cajun Creole Eatery in Downtown Marquette on Saturday, May 9th 2009 starting at 4:00 pm. Activities will include live blues music, food provided by the Lagniappe, a silent auction and more.
Also that day, the motorcycle Ride for a Cure will culminate at the Jackson Cut Alley around 4:00 pm. The ride-in will begin earlier in the day with a Blessing of the Bikes at Bald Eagle Harley-Davidson in Marquette. Riders of all motorcycles can participate in the ride-in and all events at the Lagniappe later that evening. They will also receive a T-Shirt and Bandana to commemorate the ride. The Blues for Life event will feature complimentary food from the Lagniappe and live music by FAST EDDIEs BLUES BAND from 5:00 to 6:30 pm and THE FLAT BROKE BLUES BAND from 6:45 to 8:00 pm, and THE ON THE SPOT BLUES BAND from 8:15 to 10:00 pm. Also on the bill is a silent auction and door prizes. A cash bar will also be available. All proceeds raised will go to the American Cancer Society for local cancer research and recovery programs.
